    HISTORY:
Log Cabin Quilt Blocks are one of the most popular and recognizable of all quilt patterns.
The blocks can be set together in too many ways to list.
This pattern appeals to beginners, and advanced quilters alike. Early Log Cabin Blocks were almost always pieced on a fabric foundation since they were usually made out of used (recycled) fabrics that were worn thin and were of varies kind.
At that time the finished tops were often tied instead of being quilted because of the differing weight of the fabric.
It’s thought the center blocks represents the hearth (the center of the cabin), the light side represents the sunny side of the cabin, and the dark side the shady side.
This design was very popular after the Civil War with those going West. There’s also a theory that this design was found on artifacts from some of the pyramids.
These 16 Pre-Cut blocks will make a quilt that measures approximately 32" X 32" with a 4 Block X 4 Block layout when you’ve sewn them into the layout of your choice. You might want to add a sashing strip between each block to have an even different look!
Guidelines for combining more than one set of blocks ...
    (1 set)-16 Blocks - 4X4 layout - 32" X 32"
    (2 sets)-32 Blocks - (using 30 blocks) - 5X6 layout - 40" X 48"
    (3 sets) - 48 Blocks - 6X8 layout - 48" X 64"
    (4 sets) - 64 Blocks - 8X8 layout - 64" X 64"
    (5 sets) - 80 Blocks - 8 X 10 layout - 64" X 80"
    (6 sets) - 96 Blocks - (using 90 blocks) - 9X10 layout - 72"X80"
    (7 sets) - 112 Blocks - (using 100 blocks) - 80"X80"
Blocks can also be fashioned into potholders, throws, pillows, pillow shams, wall hangings, lap quilts and much more!

    Bio:
My mother started teaching me embroidery stitches when I was 4. By 6 I was being taught to use her sewing machine. I was making most of my clothes when I was a teenager, at that time I also began to learn to make quilts. By the mid 70’s I was sewing professionally, by the mid 80’s I was wholesaling quilts to a business – they would buy all that I could make. In the 90’s my husband and I traveled around the United States to craft shows and setting up in malls selling the quilts and other craft items that we made.
I’m now 69, retired and making these items in our home. I’m supplementing my Social Security by trusting God and selling the things on my Ebay Store.
I’ve been making the Lone Stars, Log Cabins (and Log Cabin variations), Giant Dahlia, 9 Patches, Double Irish Chains, Triple Irish Chains, Appliqued & Pieced combinations, and many others for several years.
Sewing skills have been passed down in my family for generations; I still have the treadle sewing machine that my Grandfather gave to my Grandmother on their wedding day back in 1912. I’ve been sewing for well over 60 years.
Please enjoy these items and know that they’re made with LOVE!
